Booking Engine
SHORT CASE STUDIES
Booking Engine was already a developed and established product when I joined the team. It serves as one of several options available to customers for booking travel. My contributions were a few feature enhancements and a redesign concept. I had the opportunity to work with another product and development team for Booking Engine and it was a great experience seeing how different teams operate and learning their process.

TOOL USED: SKETCH
Overview | Goal | Outcome
Overview: Hoteliers requested to incorporate the ability to select add-ons in the booking process. This would give their hotels added value, better customer experience, increase their customer retention and add to their revenue flow.
Goal: Deliver an enhanced booking process that offers add-ons for selection to help provide customers the opportunity to take advantage of a hotel’s amenities and services.
Outcome: After incorporating the enhancement, there were some additional adjustments needed. There were some limitations we needed to work around. Helping to ensure that the customer did not speed through the booking process and miss the add-ons page or forget to make a section were a couple of scenarios we needed to include in the design. We worked out a solution that best fit the needs of the customer and helped to make the process clear and user friendly.

Goal: Test messaging placement in areas of the booking process to decide on the best placement solution for customers to view hotel messages.
Outcome: There were a few scenarios that were considered for the messaging placement. After considering some of the messaging limitations we were able to narrow the best solution down quickly and implement the feature.

BRANCH: HOSPITALITY SOLUTIONS
TOOL USED: SKETCH
Overview | Goal | Outcome
Overview: Each hotelier has different booking requirements depending on where the property is located. We received a request to be able to add travel document information, such as a passport, with the flexibility to be able to to add more than one type of documentation. There was also the need to make certain documents required in order for the customer to have a successful booking.
Goal: Consider the current booking process and test where the placement for travel documentation selections should live.
Outcome: There were some considerations at first to make the travel documents part of the customer’s profile. After further discussion with Product and Development, it was decided that the better placement would be in the Guest Details section of the booking process. This offered a consistent and better user experience to the customer.

TOOL USED: SKETCH
Overview | Goal | Outcome
Overview: Booking Engine Designer already existed but needed a redesign to restructure the content and workflow. Because of the complexity of this long term project it was still in a concept phase. The purpose of the concepts was to show the template designer functionality and for the second concept, a layout for icon selection that will display with custom content in the design template.
Goal: Take the existing content from the previous version of the designer and apply a different layout to test for better functionality and usability.
Outcome: After researching the previous version of the designer and going through the content, concepts were designed for discussion to keep the project moving forward and make sure that the next steps taken were in the direction that would best fit the use and need of the project.
